Club Med Les Boucaniers (Martinique) – The Review

4/54/5 • 24/06/2025

The Wanderer Family USA had a fine all-inclusive French holiday at the beautiful Club Med in Martinique. In keeping with our review style, we offer the following feedback on the 12th Club Med we visited (see our YouTube for highlights!).

Location. Perfect, and only 45 minutes from Fort de France airport.

Room. Suite 121 was great for a party of three -- with the toilet, bathroom, and closets between Liam's room and Nancy and Bill's room. The view of beach was to die for, but a renovation may be needed. Perhaps it would help prevent the ants from entering the space.

Staff. One can tell the Chief of the Village, Said, runs a tight ship. Our Platinum-support GOs, Maude and Arthur, checked in on us often. When the room's AC needed a boost, they had maintenance there in a jiffy. None of the GOs besides Maude ate chow with us, but they and the GEs were always really pleasant and professional.

Pool. There is only one, but it is big enough for everyone who wants to enjoy a refreshing dip.

Beach. Simply the best on the island, and no sargassum!

Restaurants. The buffet always had something tasty, and we never went hungry. We checked out the sit-down restaurant once, and it was fine, too.

Bars. Attentive bartenders always ensured there was never much of a wait. The drinks themselves were great, but as usual the resort up-charged a little too much for the good stuff. The rose wine and French beer were always good and refreshing. As for the Platinum/Gold GMs event, it was extremely well done, and the Mercier Champagne never stopped flowing.

Entertainment. In true Club Med style, the GOs did a fine job. We enjoyed Decades Night and The Rum Road shows, and White Night and its Champagne were big hits.

Water Sports. Liam tried wakeboarding for the first time after Tom gave him a lesson, while Nancy got back on water skis for the first time in decades. Both were real troopers.

Spa. Liam had the first massage of his life. Bill and Nancy had one, too, and everything was nice and relaxing.

Gym. Very nice. Soldier Bill went every day and appreciated the three treadmills.

The Grand Resort Tour. Check out by searching Soldier Bill, The Tour of Club Med Les Boucaniers.

Excursions. We did not buy any of them as we had a rental car, but the free snorkel trip was fun. We used our vehicle for the following: (1) Les Fonds Blancs boat tour in Le François (45 minutes from Club Med). Truly amazing (see our YouTube channel for the video!). (2) We kept Liam's promise from the last time on the island and visited Anse Dufour (1 hour from Club Med), which has gotten much more popular and built-up. On the way back, we stopped by Diamond Rock and Trois Rivieres distillery. (3) Grand Anse (10 minutes from Club Med). Just Skip It! Too much sargassum.

Tips. (1) Rent a car -- the island is easy to navigate. (2) Book a room close to the beach/pool/bar/buffet/gym/spa/theatre like we did. Everything is a minute away. (3) Have kids? Club Med Guadeloupe may be a better choice as there will be more kids with whom to play. (4) Practice basic French as it will come in handy with the locals. (5) Just Book It!

A wonderful week at Les Boucaniers, rain or shine!

5/55/5 • 09/06/2025

We recently spent the last week of May at Club Med Les Boucaniers, and despite a few short rain showers, plenty of sunshine and warm tropical breezes that made for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

There were the amazing GOs who brought so much energy and warmth to the experience. A big thank you to Leo and Vanessa at the bar, Clara at fitness who kept us in shape during our vacations, the talented photographers Guglielmo and Silvia were fun to chat with, the morning walk team for their informative outings, and to the snorkeling team who made underwater adventures safe and fun.

We regret not staying longer to try more activities. We wouldn't hesitate to go back!

very relaxing week

We really enjoyed our stay at Club Med Boucanniers. There was a small error at check-in but was promptly and most cordially rectified by Julien at the "accueil". Julien inquired as to our satisfaction a few days after our arrival.
The resort, the room, and all the facilities were well kept and very enjoyable. The food was excellent and varied.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We particularly enjoyed Valentin and Nicolas at the paddle centre; they showed great enthusiasm while hosting the daily activities.

Good, but not good enough ....

4/54/5 • 27/05/2025

we spend one week in the Club Med Les Boucaniers. While I usually am very enthusiastic about Club Med, I have mixed feelings this time round. On the positive side, the Club has recently been renovated and I must admit the Club is really beautiful. The grounds and gardens are impecable and really gorgeous. The bar area is nicely arranged with plenty of seating areas. Rooms are basic but quite large, with a large bathroom and seperate toilet. As usual there are plenty of possibilities for sports and activities.
I would like to specifically mention Magali, the yoga teacher. While I am not a yoga-addict, I must admit that the daily yofa courses with Magali were the best I have ever done. She is truly very professional and knowledgeable, paying attention to everyone and our little 'problems'. I also did Fitness Dance with her and it was the first time that I noticed that people on the beach were observing, us, getting excited and just joined up. It is people like Magali that lift Club Med to the next level.

On the down side, while Club Med prides itself on the food it offers, I was quite disappointed. Before dinner, we like to enjoy the apero and join for dinner a bit later to avoid the crowds. On several occasions, several of the dishes had run out and were not replaced, thus limiting the choice very much. While the Club does not foresee a kids / teen club, there was quite some focus on what I would refer to as food for children, nuggets, pizza, etc. At breakfast for instance, there was no granola or muesli, only chocopops and regular cereal. The usual barbecue on the beach was literally a joke. My barbecue at home is larger than the barbecue used and what was offered was a sausage on a sandwich. That is not what I am used to in a Club Med.

Club Med has the best food and activities. Best to be comfortable using French language at this particular resort
